Thello EuroCity
Taking the train from Marseille to Milan became much easier with the launch in late 2014 of a new direct EuroCity service linking the two cities. This service is operated by Thello. If the timings of the direct Thello service don't suit you, there are plenty of alternative options every day of the week. This normally requires a change of train in Nice and sometimes also in Ventimiglia.
The Thello EuroCity train runs east to the Côte d'Azur and traverses the Principality of Monaco. You'll cross the French-Italian border between Menton and Ventimiglia. Until Genoa, the entire journey to Milan broadly follows the Mediterranean coast. For the best of the sea views, sit on the right side side of the train. From Genoa, the train heads inland, running north-east to Milan.
Marseille to Milan

Whether you use the direct Thello EuroCity train from Marseille to Milan or select an itinerary requiring a change of train, your journey will start at Marseille St-Charles station. The direct service makes 17 intermediate stops on the journey. These include Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Monaco Monte Carlo, Sanremo and Genoa. This journey thus takes in most of the celebrated Riviera resorts. Arrival in Milan is at Centrale station.
