Airport train station guide

Munich International Airport, known locally as Flughafen München, is located 28km northeast of Munich. It has two terminals interconnected by Munich Airport Center (MAC). Munich International Airport has its own train station located between its two terminals in the Munich Airport Centre. The train station is easily accessible from both terminals.

Transport and connections

The S-Bahn commuter trains (S1 and S8 lines) leave from the airport to Munich city centre every 20 mins. The main stops along the way are Munich Hauptbahnhof (the main train station in Munich), Marienplatz, Laim and Ostbahnhof. The journey between Munich International Airport and Munich Hauptbahnhof takes around 45 mins. There are also trains connecting Munich International Airport train station with popular German cities like Stuttgart (about 3 hrs), like Salzburg (about 2 hrs 15 mins) and Frankfurt (about 4 hrs 10 mins). Bus and coach services are available from Munich International Airport that serve Munich and its surrounding areas. Lufthansa buses connect the airport with Munich’s main train station every 20 mins during the day. Taxis can be hired outside the airport. A taxi ride from the airport to Munich city centre takes about 35 mins.
