Transportation and connections
Munich Flughafen International Airport is located about 28 kilometers northeast of Munich. The train station is located between the two terminals of the airport in an area called MAC (Munich Airport Centre), and it is easily accessed from either terminal.
Train connections are available from Munich Flughafen Airport station to popular German cities like Stuttgart (about 3 hours), Salzburg (about 2.5 hours), Frankfurt (about 4 hours), and more.
The S-Bahn commuter trains (S1 and S8 lines) depart from the airport to downtown Munich every 10 minutes. The major downtown stops include Munich Main Station (Hauptbahnhof), Marienplatz, Laim and Ostbahnhof. The journey takes about 40-45 minutes.
There are also buses and coach services that serve Munich and the surrounding areas. Lufthansa buses connect the airport with Munich’s main railroad station every 20 minutes during the day.
Taxis: A cab ride into central Munich takes about 35 minutes and can easily cost 60 euros, depending on your destination.
