Day 1

Strasbourg

Any visit in Alsace starts with Strasbourg, a city which dates back to the Roman era and which today holds a significant importance in Europe. The city is the seat of the European Parliament, the European Court of Human Rights and other important international institutions. Discover its historic Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Opera House and the Notre Dame Cathedral. In the heart of Strasbourg, have a glass of local wine in one of the numerous cafés and restaurants. In winter, don’t miss the Christmas markets of Strasbourg, which was voted Best Christmas Market in Europe for 2014 by the European Best Destinations website. In the afternoon, head to the Petite France quarter, in the south west of the Grande Ile. You will find medieval buildings, picturesque bridges and canals, as well as half-timbered houses.

Day 2

Colmar > Mulhouse

Go to Colmar (0h30 trip from Strasbourg), the wine Capital of Alsace. You will get the chance to discover an astounding collection of Rhineland art dating from the middle Ages to the Renaissance. From the beautiful city of Colmar, take a guided tour to the region’s vineyards and tantalize your taste buds with the many flavours of Alsatian white wines… Gewurtztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Muscat and the red Pinot Rouge. On the 3rd day, reach Mulhouse (0h20 trip from Colmar), an ancient city of technology and textiles. Visit its 12 fascinating museums and afterwards the Ballons des Vosges regional nature park to discover the natural environment which has been preserved for centuries in all of its unique and captivating diversity.
