At Rail Europe we believe in price transparency. We use real data from Rail Europe searches to estimate the cheapest fares you should be able to find for your journey.

The cheapest price is the lowest fare we've ever found for this journey. These prices can usually be found by searching when booking opens but they vary due to availability, which depends on factors like the day of the week or time of year.

Frecciargento or Italo

It is easy to take the train from Florence to Venice. Trenitalia is the lead operator on this popular route, running Frecciargento services between the two cities. In addition, NTV Italo offers trains each day on the Florence to Venice route. The initial stretch to Bologna passes through many tunnels, so the views aren't inspiring. Beyond Bologna, there are however good views of the open landscapes of Emilia-Romagna and the Veneto.

Florence S.M.N. to Venice

All fast trains to Venice depart from Florence Santa Maria Novella (SMN) station. The first stop for all services is Bologna. Beyond Bologna, these trains make one or two other stops before arriving in Venice where they pause at Mestre station and then continue on a bridge over the lagoon to terminate at Venezia Santa Lucia. The latter is definitely the better choice for reaching the centre of Venice.
