Regional Train
Take the train from Florence to Perugia and discover some of the loveliest scenery in Tuscany and Umbria. The trains that travel this route are classified as Regionale Veloce (RV) services. These are regional services which stop only at principal stations along the route.
From Florence the route travels south-east up the valley of the River Arno to Arezzo. The latter part of the journey, from Arezzo to Perugia, is superb. Sit on the right side of the train for views of Lake Trasimeno. If the direct timings don't suit, there are additional connections with one change of train at Terontola-Cortona.
Florence S.M.N. to Perugia

All trains from Florence to Perugia depart from Santa Maria Novella station in the middle of Florence. Most trains make about a dozen stops en route to Perugia, of which the most important are Arezzo and Terontola-Cortona (where the train leaves the line to Rome and turns east to skirt the shores of Lake Trasimeno).
Perugia has a number of railway stations. If you are heading to the city centre, the place to alight is simply called Perugia.
