Thello EuroCity
It is an easy journey by train from Marseille to Sanremo. This is a key route linking the principal city of Provence with one of the finest resorts of Liguria. This rail route runs via the Riviera coast, skirting the Côte d’Azur to cross the French-Italian border between Menton and Ventimiglia. A direct EuroCity train serves this route; it is run by Italian rail operator Thello.
If the timings of the direct service don’t fit your schedule, you can still follow the classic Riviera coastal route from Marseille to Sanremo using other trains. There are other daily options (depending on the day of the week), each requiring one or two easy changes of train along the way, normally at Nice Ville and / or Ventimiglia.
Marseille to Sanremo

The direct Thello train to Sanremo leaves from Marseille St Charles station. It makes nine stops on its journey to Sanremo. Sit on the right side of the train for the best views of the coast. You’ll be rewarded with early glimpses of rocky coves as the train runs east through Bandol. The journey takes in the main resorts of the Côte d’Azur: Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Monte Carlo and Menton. There’s more scenery to come as the train runs along the coast of Liguria towards Sanremo. Approaching the resort, the line dives into the long tunnel to reach Sanremo’s modern underground station.
