Direct high-speed trains link Paris and Nice. Several TGV Duplex trains leave Paris each day for Nice and other cities on the French Riviera. Note the the direct night train from Paris to the Riviera ran for the last time in late 2017.
The route followed by the TGVs cuts south-east from Paris, skirting Burgundy and crossing the River Rhône east of Lyon. Almost before you know it, you are in Provence. Just short of Marseille, the TGV to Nice leaves the high-speed line and follows a traditional rail route east along the Mediterranean coast to Nice.
