The direct train from Moscow to Nice crosses the territory of eight countries on its run from the Russian capital to the Riviera. The journey requires two nights on board the train. All passengers are accommodated in sleeping cars. Very comfortable new carriages were introduced on the route in early 2015. There is a restaurant car on the train.
The journey recalls the heyday of the Riviera, when Russia’s well-to-do elites would winter in the resorts along the northern fringes of the Mediterranean. That regular Riviera trade was interrupted by the First World War and the Russian Revolution, but it has seen a revival in the last couple of decades.

Moskva Belorusskaja to Nice-Ville (night train)

The train to Nice departs from Moscow Belorusskaja station and makes two dozen stops on its two-day journey to the Riviera. These include Minsk, Warsaw, Vienna, Innsbruck, Verona, Milan and Genoa. The best of the scenery is on the late afternoon and early evening of the second day as the train cuts through the Austrian Alps. After a second night on board, you’ll awake to Riviera scenes as the train cruises the coast of Liguria to reach the French border. The train terminates at Nice Ville station.
