TGV
High-speed TGV trains run directly from Paris to Avignon. Almost all trains on this route are TGV Duplex services so you can choose between upper deck and lower deck seating. Opt for the top level for the best views.
The journey is entirely on modern high-speed lines, skirting Burgundy vineyards, and crossing the River Rhône east of Lyon. Almost before you know it you’ll be in sunny Provence.
There are also TGV services each day from Paris to Avignon Centre station, just a short walk from the main sights in the old city. These trains take about an hour longer than the services to Avignon TGV. From Valence to Avignon these trains follow the Rhône Valley instead of the modern high-speed line, so affording fine views of the landscapes of the region.
