AVE or TGV
Travelling by train from Montpellier to Barcelona is the easiest way to connect between the two cities also thanks to the 2013 opening of a high-speed line that links France and Spain.
The route is served by both Spanish AVE and French TGV trains – both known for their high standards of comfort and service. Sit back, relax and watch the countryside slip by as the train runs through coastal Languedoc then cuts under the Pyrenees to reach northern Catalonia.
Montpellier-Saint-Roch to Barcelona

The direct high-speed trains depart from Montpellier Saint-Roch in the heart of the city and arrive in Barcelona Sants station, about 3 km west of the centre. The first half of the journey gives excellent views of the lagoon landscapes of coastal Languedoc. Distant views of the Pyrenees dominate the second half of the route.
