Your train speeds west from Barcelona into Aragon, crossing the River Ebro near Zaragoza. Then it’s a fast dash across the plains of Castilla–La Mancha, with distant views of the Madrid conurbation to your right. The final hour of the journey to Córdoba is beautiful, as the train sweeps through the rugged Sierra Morena to reach Andalucía.
If you want to see an even more scenery and don't mind slower trains, you might want to consider taking the once daily Talgo train from Barcelona to Seville. It certainly isn't fast, but you'll be rewarded with views of the coast south to Valencia and then, later in the journey, superb mountain views as the train cuts through Despenaperros Pass to reach Andalucía.
Barcelona to Córdoba Central

The direct AVE trains leave from Barcelona Sants station and arrive at Córdoba Central. The trains stop up to five times on the way, including at the cities of Zaragoza and Ciudad Real. If you want to enjoy a train journey twice as long that takes in some wonderful scenery, opt for the once-daily Talgo service that runs south from Barcelona along the coast and then moves inland after Valencia. That train is called the Garcia Lorca.
