Frecciarossa or Italo
It is very easy to take the train from Milan to Verona. The fast train uses a new dedicated high-speed line between Treviglio and Brescia, which opened in late 2016. This 40-km stretch of new track trimmed about 15 minutes off journey times on this route. In due course, additional high-speed stretches will bring further time savings. Meanwhile, much of the route follows legacy railway lines, but with Trenitalia and NTV Italo locked in head to head competition on this route, both companies are using their smartest trains on the Milan to Verona run.
The route east from Milan crosses the North Italian Plain, so the landscape is pretty two-dimensional. But it’s pleasant and there’s an unexpected moment about 10 minutes before Verona when Lake Garda suddenly appears on the left side of the train.
