It is very easy to take the train from Zurich to Vienna – and this is a journey well worth making, for it takes in some very fine Alpine scenery. Comfortable Railjet trains run directly from Zurich to Vienna each day.
In addition, there is a breakfast-time departure which is not a Railjet but a train that has ultra-comfortable older carriages with a panorama observation car in first class. This is perfect for sightseeing, but on this service you’ll need to change trains once along the way – at Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof.
For those who prefer travelling by night, there is also a direct night train from Zurich to Vienna.
