The opening in 2010 of a new high-speed rail route between the two cities dramatically reduced the journey time from Madrid to Valencia.
The old line between Madrid and Valencia remains open and you can still book that route here on Loco2 by specifying Valencia Sant Isidre as your arrival station. It is a famously scenic journey but takes around 6 hrs.
Madrid to Valencia
Take a direct high-speed train from Madrid to Valencia. There are more than a dozen trains each day, mostly AVE services, but also an occasional Alvia or Intercity train. Trains leave Madrid from Atocha station and arrive in Valencia at Joaquín Sorolla station. Most services are non-stop, but some trains make one or two stops along the way.
