Regional train
Taking the train from Venice to Trieste is easy, and it's the best way to travel between the two cities. Regional trains leave Venice for Trieste generally once an hour throughout the day. Note that there is another route from Venice to Trieste, but this circuitous inland excursion via Udine and Gorizia takes much longer.
The standard route runs east through flat terrain to Monfalcone, from where the line runs right along the coast to Trieste. Sit on the right for the best views. There is a wonderful moment as the train passes by Miramare Castle.
Venice S. Lucia to Trieste Centrale

The regional trains to Trieste Centrale start at Santa Lucia station in the very middle of Venice. They make a second Venice stop at Mestre, 12 minutes later.
