TGV
The route followed by the TGVs cuts south-east from Paris, skirting Burgundy and crossing the River Rhône east of Lyon. Just before Marseille, the TGVs to the Riviera leave the high-speed line and follow a traditional rail route east along the Mediterranean coast to Nice.
Apart from the high-speed daytime services, there is also an overnight train from Paris to Nice. It’s called the Train Bleu, and you can take that to Nice for the onward hop to Monaco.
