Overview
Italo is Italy’s first private high-speed rail operator. They are the first operator in the world to use Alstom’s new AGV trains, the world record holders for top speeds on wheeled rail vehicles. Italo’s current fleet is made up of 26 new Italo EVO and 25 latest-generation AGV 575 trains that reach speeds of up to 360 km/h. It is the first privately-owned rail operator in the country, created to compete with state-owned Trenitalia.
Italo trains are nicknamed "Ferrari" trains. Their bright red exterior, strong branding and plush leather seating means that the brand launched to much fanfare in 2012.
Italo journeys offer rich entertainment experiences, tailored services, exclusive luxury experiences, and maximum comfort, catering to the needs of all kinds of travellers.
Currently, Italo goes to all the high and medium speed train destinations, with 118 trains running per day, from Turin and Trieste passing through Milan, Venice, Padua, Verona, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Caserta Naples, Salerno, to Reggio Calabria and Bari, connecting the most important Italian cities.
Italo has a passion for all things green. They've opted for trains made with sustainability in mind.
Their state-of-the-art technology is more energy-saving than their competitors’. Ninety-eight percent of train materials used are recyclable, and trains consume 30% less energy, making Italo pioneers in sustainable train travel.
