The opening in 2010 of a new high-speed rail route between the two cities dramatically reduced the journey time from Madrid to Valencia.
The old line between Madrid and Valencia remains open and you can still book that route here on Loco2 by specifying Valencia Sant Isidre as your arrival station. It is a famously scenic journey but takes around 6 hrs.
