Alvia or Media Distancia
It is very easy to travel by train from Madrid to Burgos. Depending on the day of the week, there are up to three fast trains and three slow trains linking the two cities.
The fast Alvia trains cut through the hills north-west of Madrid in a long tunnel and following a modern high-speed line for much of the journey to Burgos. If you'd like to see some beautiful Spanish landscape, you might prefer the slower option; the rail route over the Sierra de Guadarrama is known for its scenery. These slower trains are Media Distancia (MD) services, which take two hours longer for the journey.
Madrid to Burgos Rosa de Lima

Opt for a high-speed Alvia service or a slower-pace Media Distancia service to travel directly by train from Madrid to Burgos. All trains on this route leave the Spanish capital from Madrid Chamartin station and arrive in Burgos at Rosa de Lima station. Alvia trains stop once or twice along the way, while Media Distancia trains make between seven and 17 stops, including the historic walled city of Avila. There is a shuttle bus from Burgos Rosa de Lima station to the city centre.
