Direct AVE trains run between Barcelona and Seville, or you can take advantage of frequent connections by travelling via Madrid.

If timings of direct AVE trains don’t suit, you’ll find several other options each day, all involving a change of train in Madrid Atocha, adding 20 to 50 mins to the overall travel time.
The journey starts by speeding west from Barcelona into Aragon, crossing the River Ebro near Zaragoza. Then it’s a fast dash across the plains of Castilla–La Mancha, with distant views of the Madrid conurbation to your right. Your train then traverses the Sierra Morena to enter Andalucía.
Alternatively, you can take the once-daily Talgo train from Barcelona to Seville. With an 11-hr journey time, it certainly isn't fast, but you'll be rewarded with views of the coast south to Valencia and later the mountains as the train cuts through Despenaperros Pass to reach Andalucía.
Barcelona to Seville
High-speed AVE trains speed from Barcelona Sants station directly to Seville Santa Justa twice a day. The trains leave in the morning and in the afternoon, stopping five to six times on the way, including Zaragoza, Ciudad Real and Córdoba. From Córdoba it's a pleasant run down the Guadalquivir Valley to Seville, Spain's fourth largest city and capital of Andalucía.
AVE via Madrid
You can also travel by train from Barcelona to Seville via Madrid.
Setting off from Barcelona the route tracks west into Aragon, crossing the River Ebro near Zaragoza. Then it’s a fast dash across the plains to Madrid. After the change at Madrid, the train sweeps through La Mancha and the rugged Sierra Morena to reach Córdoba. From there it is just an hour down the Gaudelquivir Valley to Seville.
Barcelona to Madrid
Take a high-speed AVE or Ouigo train directly from Barcelona Sants station to Madrid Atocha. Trains that stop up to four times along the way may take 30 to 40 minutes longer. This journey along Spain's premier high-speed rail route reveals a variety of passing landscapes as you speed from Catalonia through Aragon to the Spanish heartland.
Madrid to Seville
Catch a direct high-speed train from Madrid Atocha to Seville Santa Justa station. A couple of daily services run non-stop between the two cities, but the great majority of the direct trains each day stop at Córdoba. Some make up to three further stops along the way. The route is served by a variety of train types, but most services are run by sleek, modern AVE trains.
