Travelling on a Frecciabianca train

At a glance

  • Italy

Previously known as Eurostar Italia, Italy’s long-distance Frecce family of trains operated by Trenitalia comes in three flavours: Frecciabianca ('White Arrow'), Frecciargento ('Silver Arrow') and Frecciarossa ('Red Arrow'). Frecciabianca services are the lowest of the three grades of Frecce trains, but they are just as sweet in service and style as their Silver and Red Arrow counterparts. They have the most traditional rolling stock but their carriages have been refurbished to meet the highest modern standards.

Frecciabianca trains travel at a speed of up to 200 km/h and serve a wide network, connecting medium and large communities across Italy using traditional lines. Frequent services link Turin and Milan with Venice, a triple scoop of stunning cities to explore. Frecciabianca trains serve both coasts and give reliable and comfortable express services to many cities at the extremities of Italy’s rail network: Trieste, Taranto, Lecce, Bari and Reggio di Calabria.

Comfort, safety and style are hallmarks of Trenitalia's train fleet, including Frecciabianca trains.

Before you board

There is no check-in before boarding Frecciabianca trains, although ticket control will take place once onboard.

It is recommended to arrive at least 15 mins before your Frecciabianca train departure time.

Air conditioned open-plan carriages with wide comfortable seats and spacious room for luggage are the hallmark of Frecciabianca trains.

Power sockets are available at seats.

Frecciabianca trains provide a trolley service selling hot andcold drinks and snacks. Trains serving popular routes also normally have a bar counter located in the middle of the train. Expect a selection of sandwiches, hot and cold snacks and drinks.

One of the things Trenitalia most excels at is excellence in care and attention to detail. Onboard your Frecciabianca train, as with all Frecce trains, you can expect to receive the highest levels of customer service, with friendly staff members always on hand to assist you with any needs or questions.

Booking and printing options

Frecciabianca tickets are open for bookings 180 days in advance.

A Frecciabianca seat reservation is obligatory and is included in the price of your ticket.

Get the lowest prices on Frecciabianca by booking early and don’t wait until the last minute as cheaper seats sell out quickly.

Opt for off-peak Frecciabianca trains when you have to travel at short notice. Off-peak Frecciabianca trains are more affordable than ones that run mornings and evenings, Fridays and Sundays or during popular holidays.

Classes of service

Trenitalia’s Frecciabianca trains provide two comfortable classes of service: Standard Class and First Class.

Frecciabianca First Class

First Class passengers on the popular Turin-Milan to Venice-Udine-Trieste route are offered a complimentary hot or cold drink upon boarding the train. There is a choice of newspapers and power sockets are available at every seat. Seating is comfortable and spacious with three reclining seats across the aisle rather than four.

Frecciabianca Standard Class

In Standard Class, airy carriages have groups of four comfortable reclining seats around tables as well as pairs of comfortable airline-style unidirectional seats. Electrical sockets are available at most seats.

Child and youth passengers

The definition of "Child" and "Youth" varies by country and operator. This is why we ask for the age of young passengers.

Sometimes children below a certain age can travel without a seat for free. If you want to guarantee a seat for child passengers, enter '6' as the age of the child.
