About this journey

More than canals,culture and cannabis

More than canals, culture and cannabis Amsterdam, also known as the Venice of Northern Europe, is a world-class capital known for its rich culture, openness and tolerance. Amsterdam Centraal Station (CS) is at the heart of the city and can easily be reached from Schiphol airport within 15 minutes. Miss the train ? Not to worry – they run every ten minutes. The Centraal Station’s impressive neo-renaissance building is located at the IJ waterfront. Unless you plan to travel by one of the ferries from the north side of the station, you’ll need to exit at the center side, where all buses, trams, metros, taxis, departure quays for tourist boats and the main Amsterdam tourist office are located. The station’s location is unique, situated on three man-made islands, themselves resting on over 8,000 wooden piles that have been driven deep into the sandy soil. Several canals that have recently been added to the UNESCO heritage list surround the train station. Learn more about Amsterdam

Have a Pra-ha moment in the city of spires

Have a Pra-ha moment in the city of spires This is the city of spires, and as soon as you exit the main train station Praha Hlavni Nádraží‎ you’ll get a taste for the gothic architecture. The station is conveniently located near Wenceslas Square – aptly named for the patron saint of Bohemia and a hub for the hip and tourists alike. In 1989, during the Velvet revolution, this boulevard was lined with demonstrators exalting freedom. The outcry for democracy has led to the city being the most westernized and tourist-friendly of all the Eastern bloc cities. Learn more about Prague

"This train was very good..my first experience in sleeper cars. A little concerned that I got woken up when someone else got on in the middle of the night, but I guess that cannot be avoided. The train attendant that was there when I got on was wonderful, but the older gentleman that came on for the day was gumpy, unhelpful, and put me off at the wrong station "
