  • Day 1: Lugano–Lucerne–Zurich
  • Day 2: Zurich–Schaffhausen–St Gallen–Lucerne
  • Day 3: Lucerne–Interlaken–Montreux
  • Day 4: Montreux–Brig–Domodossola–Lugano

Day 1:

Few things will take your breath away like taking the Gotthard Panorama Express between Lugano and Lucerne. Combining rail and waterway travel, this 5-hour trip starts with scenic rail before connecting to a spectacular 2.5-hour Lake Lucerne steamer boat ride. Once in Lucerne, why not add on a trip to Mt Titlis, with the world’s first revolving cable car to panoramic views of snow-capped summits. Finish the day big in the center of Switzerland’s largest and most multicultural city, Zurich.

Day 2:

Zurich–Schaffhausen–St Gallen–Lucerne

From Zurich you pass through Schaffhausen, a beautiful old town with Renaissance-era buildings -- perfect for strolling. Then St Gallen awaits, with its awe-inspiring Abbey precinct -- a UNESCO World Heritage site. Depart St Gallen on the Pre-Alpine Express for Lucerne, a beautiful journey through the Toggenburg region that includes crossing over a 325-foot railway bridge, the highest in Switzerland.

Day 3:

Your day starts in lovely Lucerne, the gateway to central Switzerland. Take the beautiful GoldenPass Line over the Brünig Pass to Interlaken. Once in Interlaken, consider a side-trip to Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe: a sparkling snow and ice wonderland accessed through the highest altitude railway station in Europe. Continue on through the scenic Simme Valley to Montreux on Lake Geneva.

Day 4:

From Lake Geneva, you’ll continue on to Brig at the foot of the Simplon Pass, with its historic old quarter and magnificent Stockalper Palace. From there, it’s off to Domodossola, Italy. You won’t want to miss a 1.5-hour excursion on the Centovalli Express between Domodossola and Locarno, a picturesque route that includes 83 bridges and 31 tunnels. Your trip ends in the playground of Lugano, a mix of Mediterranean warmth and always-cool activities.
