The Eurostar train from London to Brussels stops at Lille, in France. It is a great opportunity to get off the train, and visit Lille, a shopping paradise for fashion addicts. Lille is a modern and vibrant city with a multicultural population. You will discover that in this part of Northern France, local languages such as the Ch’ti or the Flemish is very much present. Book worms will be happy to know that Lille has the largest space decitated to books – The Furet du Nord bookshop. While in Lille, don’t miss its belfry which is one of the tallest in Europe.
The convenience of one or more passes
Before taking the Eurostar train, you should know that you have the possibility to choose between three types of tickets : a flexible ticket, a semi-flexible ticket and a value ticket. The flexible ticket can be exchanged or refunded before and after the departure of the train. The semi-flexile ticket can be exchanged. If you want to upgrade in first class for example, you can do so by paying the difference in price and a fixed fee. As for the value ticket, it can’t be exchanged or refunded. The value ticket is best suited of you are sure about your travel dates and requirements.
Pasholders can of course travel on board the Eurostar. They will be able to travel in Standard Premier and Standard Class if they have one of the following passes : a Eurail Global Pass ; a Eurail Select pass including France, a Eurail Benelux Pass ; a France Rail Pass ; a BritRail Pass ; BritRail Pass + Ireland or a BritRail England Pass and finally a BritRail London Plus Pass.
