Trains tickets in Ireland

Overview

An island with two countries within it, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, trains take you across the border, out to the wild Atlantic coast and to the island’s leading cities of Dublin, Limerick, Sligo, Galway, Cork and many more. At present we do not sell train tickets within Ireland, north or south. However we do sell sail and rail packages which take you across the Irish Sea to both north and south of the border, which are super eco and efficient ways to travel to the island of Ireland.

These sail and rail packages link up with the island’s Intercity services. These connect the Republic’s capital Dublin to most cities, and there are a few cross-country services that skip the capital altogether. Trains on the Dublin to Cork line offer the most frequent and modern services, taking you from capital to coast in 2 hrs 30 mins. The Enterprise high-speed train takes you between the island’s two capitals, Belfast and Dublin, in just over 2 hrs.

Travel by train to Galway in 2 hrs 15 mins from Dublin to experience the heart of Ireland’s Gaeltacht or Irish language speaking culture. It is also gateway to the Aran Islands, three of the most famous beauties of Ireland’s magnificent Atlantic archipelago.

The Republic of Ireland’s national train company, Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) offers frequent services on its main lines, typically at hour or two-hour intervals, making train travel in the Republic of Ireland fairly easy. You’ll have lots of flexibility, and can easily schedule early morning, late afternoon, or day return trips.
