Lausanne & Montreux Riviera by train

In the heart of Europe, the Lake Geneva Region has everything to offer to visitors looking for active and relaxing holidays. Lausanne, the Olympic Capital, and Montreux Riviera, the jazz city, which are the main destinations, offer a wide range of hotels, restaurants & cafés, shopping facilities together with endless options for activities, culture and well-being. All this in the exceptional setting of Lake Geneva and surrounding Alps.

Day 1

Easily accessible by train from Geneva (0h40 trip) and Bern (1h05 trip), Lausanne, is the second largest city located on the shore of Lake Geneva. Sport and culture are an integral part of this Olympic capital making it a preferred tourist destination. Lausanne is also a centre for studies and research, and home to a large number of international companies.

Discover its magnificent gothic cathedral dating from the 13th century and its city hall. Have a shopping splurge in the pedestrian city centre before relaxing on the lakeshore promenades at Ouchy. End your day by a visit to the Olympic Museum, a symbol of the union of sport, art and culture.

Day 2

Lausanne > Vevey > Montreux

Hop on the train in Lausanne to reach Vevey (0h15 trip), a town where wine is produced from the Lavaux vineyards. On your way there, you will discover the breathtaking terraced vineyards of the Lavaux region, a UNESCO World heritage site. The region offers the opportunity to taste the local wines in a typical vintner’s wine cellar, facing the lake and mountains. Once in Vevey take a CGN boat (General Navigation Company of the Lake Geneva) bound for Veytaux, or more precisely, Château Chillon. This castle is one of Switzerland’s most beautiful monuments.

Get back to Montreux by bus (0h05 trip). The town hosts the world famous Jazz Festival each July as well as a popular Christmas Market. As a town of music, it has privileged relations with celebrities. Freddie Mercury and Igor Stravinsky lived there. Go for a walk from the centre of Montreux to the flower-embellished shores of Lake Geveva to fully savour the spectacular view that opens up before you. Behind the Château of Chillon you will see the famous massif of the Dents du Midi.

Child and youth passengers

The definition of "Child" and "Youth" varies by country and operator. This is why we ask for the age of young passengers.

Sometimes children below a certain age can travel without a seat for free. If you want to guarantee a seat for child passengers, enter '6' as the age of the child.
