Airport train station guide
Berlin-Schönefeld Airport train station is within easy walking distance from Berlin-Schönefeld airport (or Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld) - SXF for short. The walk from railway station to terminals just 5 to 10 mins on foot, via a covered walkway.
A limited number of regional and Intercity trains run direct from the airport station to cities across eastern Germany. These will be withdrawn in October 2020, leaving only an S-Bahn local train service. These will run thrice hourly into Berlin city centre. Tickets can be purchased locally; there are ticket machines in the airport terminals and in the underground subway at the station. Note than this airport is being downgraded in late October 2020, when the new Berlin-Brandenburg.International Airport (BER) opens. Some facilities at Schönefeld airport will remain open, but these will be run as a secondary, remote terminal for the new BER airport. This semi-detached bit of the new airport will be called BER Terminal 5.
Passengers bound for BER's main terminals should book to and travel to a new airport station called "Flughafen BER - Terminal 1-2". That station will open on 31 October 2020. From that date Schönefeld station will also be known by a new name: "Flughafen BER – Terminal 5".
