France’s winter train tickets go on sale

While it’s still a bit too early for mistletoe and holly, it’s certainly not too early to think about booking your next French train holiday. On Tuesday 6 October 2020, France’s winter train tickets go on sale . This really is a case of the early bird gets the worm or, as the French say “L’avenir appartient à ceux qui se lèvent tôt", with the cheapest tickets available from dawn on the day. Tickets available from 6 October are for travel between 13 December 2020 and 4 January 2021, so book now to buy cheap French train tickets for peak season travel at Christmas and New Year. Tickets released are for all trains within France including high-speed TGV and InterCity.

Even better than saving the date is our ‘booking alert facility’, so that we can send you a reminder that winter train tickets are ready for purchase on your chosen route.

How to set a booking alert

It’s quite simple really. Just search the train journey and dates that you want on our booking page and, as the booking hasn’t opened yet, we will ask you to set a booking alert. Just follow the instructions, or you can also read our blog all about our booking alert facility here.

Paris is lovely in the springtime as well as when it sizzles in summer, but the City of Lights truly shines in winter. From the twinkling beauty of the Eiffel Tower to the bustling boulevards and cosy cafés, Paris is quick and easy to get to by train and is sure to add some sparkle to your winter holiday calendar.

Nice might be a go-to summer destination, but it’s just as nice in winter too. Avoiding the city’s most popular tourist season means getting to enjoy warm days, cool nights, and fewer crowds. A train journey to the Cote d'Azur is a guaranteed cure for the winter blues.

Home to the Mont Blanc and world-class winter sports, there’s no better time to visit this Alpine resort than when it’s dusted in freshly fallen snow. While Chamonix provides year-round activities for visitors including hiking and cycling, it truly is a winter playground where top-notch skiing meets A-list glamour.

Famed for its wines and 18th century elegance, Bordeaux is worth visiting, no matter what time of year.
