Summering in France is always a good idea! And when there is a major discount like this one, it’s the best idea. So book your tickets to every corner (or the heart – we’re talking to you, Paris) of France. And to get you off on the right foot during your travels, here are some things to keep in mind for your trip!

  • Always say “bonjour” when entering an establishment. It is a typical courtesy that starts your interaction on a positive note.
  • After around 5pm, your “bonjour” should turn into “bonsoir.”
  • Explore beyond Paris! While we love the ‘City of Light’ (heck, our headquarters is here), there are so many other incredible experiences to be had (like in Provence, pictured below), so venture out.

  • Nearly the entire country goes on vacation in August, so plan accordingly. This may mean certain stores aren’t open or that the typical hours aren’t adhered to. The plus side is that it can be less crowded in certain spots.
  • Stay hydrated for less! When popping into a local convenience store or une épicerie, you'll likely find that the refrigerated water bottles are more expensive than the room temperature ones. The chilled bottles are often stored in the front of the store, while the room-temp bottles are typically towards the back.
  • Also, no need to pay for bottled water at a restaurant. Instead, ask for “un carafe d’eau” with a nice "s'il vous plaît" and "merci."
  • When booking a ticket for an attraction or monument, check for discounts for your age group, nationality, profession, etc. If you are a student, be sure to bring your student card along for some solid discounts.
  • Check for free days at the museums you wish to visit. You may be able to avoid paying all together.
  • Try to avoid a late lunch because you may not end up eating at all. Many restaurants end lunch service around 2 or 2:30 pm.
  • Not all baguettes are created equal. If you want to try the baguette in its purest form, order a “tradition,” which contains, by law, only flour, yeast, salt and water.
  • Don’t know which “arrondissement” or neighbourhood you are in during your visit to France? Simply look up at the quintessentially French street signs and you’ll see the number right there.

  • Certain cafes and restaurants charge less for a coffee or snack when ordered at the bar than when had at a table. Save a little cash by eating at the bar while you people watch.
  • And the number one tip we can give you when visiting France is to make it your own and have fun – it’s a vacation, right? Gone are the days of just choosing a random bar or restaurant without having the urge to cross reference reviews on Google and social media. That’s all fine and dandy (and can be super helpful in most cases), but sometimes it’s best to just go with the flow and see what comes to you.

Now that you are armed with some useful knowledge, and an opportunity to save big, it’s time to put it to good use in the land of early lunches and barside espressos. But book now before this sale expires (or before these discounted rates and upgrades run out)!

Child and youth passengers

The definition of "Child" and "Youth" varies by country and operator. This is why we ask for the age of young passengers.

Sometimes children below a certain age can travel without a seat for free. If you want to guarantee a seat for child passengers, enter '6' as the age of the child.
