Greece Interrail Pass

Eurail is now Interrail

Eurail and Interrail were two versions of the same pass, and which one you could buy depended on where you lived. That split has gone. There is now one name, Interrail, and it is available wherever you live. Your pass, bookings and account stay the same.

Overview

The Interrail Greece Pass is the most comprehensive way to explore Greece, a land of mythical legends and an enchanting destination. Discover some of the world's most famous ancient architecture in Athens, and the Byzantine churches and Roman ruins of Thessaloniki, before going for a dip in the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea. You will have endless choice thanks to the thousands of attractive Greek islands.

The Interrail Greece Pass allows you unlimited travel on the days you choose. You can take as many trains as you like and there is no limit on the distance you can travel within a travel day. All of this at a fixed price.

Hop on and off trains at any time according to your plans. Just show up at the nearest train station and get ready to go and explore a new destination. Some trains need a seat reservation booked separately, so see the FAQs below for more information.

The Interrail Greece Pass also comes with pass benefits, which can include discounts on hotels, museums and other transport. These change from year to year, so check what is currently included before you book.

Your pass is a mobile pass, added to the Rail Planner app, so there is nothing to print or collect.

Whether you are the adventurous traveller or the avid planner, the Interrail Greece Pass gives you the freedom to plan your trip as you go.

Island hopping: the Interrail Greek Islands Pass

Greece's rail network reaches the mainland cities. For the islands, there is a separate pass.

The Interrail Greek Islands Pass, available with 4 or 6 travel days, is your gateway to Greece's captivating islands by national ferry, from the glamour of Mykonos to the landscapes of Santorini and the serenity of Crete. It works alongside the Greece Pass rather than replacing it, so you can take the train to the coast and the ferry from there.

Unlike other One Country Passes, the Greek Islands Pass is available to Greek nationals.

Rail passes can be booked for travel in one specific country or you can choose one of a few pre-selected country/region combinations. Extensive travel plans? Try the Interrail Global Pass, offering train travel in 33 different countries. Once you've selected your pass, its price will depend on the class of service selected, passenger type, and the number of rail travel days.

Travelling on local and regional trains provides you with an opportunity to freely explore. It's easy to get on a train with your Interrail Greece Pass and find an open seat to enjoy the journey in. Seat reservations are required on many high-speed, overnight and scenic trains, including services on the main Athens to Thessaloniki line. It's always a good idea to research the journey you are interested in and check for any specific seat reservation requirements.

Your paper-free rail pass needs to be activated in the Rail Planner app before your first train journey or first use of a pass benefit. You have up to 11 months from buying your pass to activate it, and once a pass is activated it cannot be refunded. Don't forget to download the app before you travel, in case you do not have good internet access when you arrive.

Child and youth passengers

The definition of "Child" and "Youth" varies by country and operator. This is why we ask for the age of young passengers.

Sometimes children below a certain age can travel without a seat for free. If you want to guarantee a seat for child passengers, enter '6' as the age of the child.
