Intercity day train routes

If you like to look out the window and enjoy the scenery, choose a day route!

Paris—Limoges—Toulouse

Travel from the bustling capital to the historic cities of Limoges and Toulouse. The Limousin region of France is known for its rolling hills, verdant landscapes, and charming villages. The regional seat of Limoges is a charming mid-sized city with stunning architecture (including the train station, listed as a historic monument!). Wander the streets of the Quartier de la Boucherie neighbourhood and admire the timbered houses, then enjoy a cup of coffee en terrasse. Before you go, shop for Limoges’ artisan porcelain, which makes for the perfect gift or souvenir. The Pink City of Toulouse and the Canal du Midi await at the end of this captivating journey.

Béziers—Clermont Ferrand

This route takes you from the south of France to the heart of the rugged, mountainous Auvergne region. Start in Béziers, a quaint small town nestled on the Mediterranean coast. Explore the remnants of the Roman amphitheatre and aqueduct or wander through the enchanting Old Town with its narrow streets and winding alleys. Don’t miss the Béziers Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, which offers panoramic views of the city and the Canal du Midi. End your journey in Clermont Ferrand, known for its volcanic landscapes and historic buildings constructed with lava rock.

Intercity night train routes

If you prefer to get some shut eye and save yourself the cost of a hotel room, try a night route!

Paris—Lourdes—Hendaye

After departing the French capital at sunset, settle into your cosy couchette and get ready for your overnight journey. Wake up to the gentle swaying of the train as you arrive in Lourdes, a Catholic pilgrimage site set in the Pyrenees mountains. Saint Bernadette is said to have glimpsed Mary in a nearby grotto, and the site includes a church, a chapel, and a crypt. Rubbing shoulders with pilgrims from around the world and basking in the meditative atmosphere is a unique experience, for both the religious and non-religious alike. Finish your trip in Hendaye, a coastal gem on the Bay of Biscay near the Spanish border.

Paris—Cerbère

After you leave the twinkling lights of Paris behind, allow yourself to drift off to sleep in your couchette. Wake up to a stunning Mediterranean sunset as you approach Cerbère. The idyllic village of around 1,000 residents is the perfect escape from the big city. Take advantage of uncrowded beaches and crystal blue waters as you swim, sunbathe, or wander into town. It’s a haven for those who love hiking, biking, and kayaking. At just a few kilometres from Spain, a visit might be in order!

Child and youth passengers

The definition of "Child" and "Youth" varies by country and operator. This is why we ask for the age of young passengers.

Sometimes children below a certain age can travel without a seat for free. If you want to guarantee a seat for child passengers, enter '6' as the age of the child.
