Trains to Narbonne
Narbonne is one of the most important rail hubs in south-west France. Situated in Languedoc, not far from the Mediterranean coast, Narbonne is a relaxed provincial centre with heaps of history. Take time to explore the great Gothic cathedral and relax over a glass of wine and local oysters in one of the many restaurants by the lovely Canal de la Robine. For so long, Narbonne has lacked a showpiece tourist attraction, but that's set to change in 2020 with the opening of a new museum of antiquities (Musée Narbo Via), housed in a fine building designed by Norman Foster.
The fastest TGV trains will speed you from Paris to Narbonne in four-and-a-half hours. The excellent onward rail connections from Narbonne make the city a great choice for an overnight stopover when exploring Europe by train.
Apart from the regular daytime TGVs from Paris, Narbonne also has direct fast services to Barcelona, Bordeaux, Figueres, Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse. Regular local TER services run along the coast - in one direction to Avignon via Montpellier, in the other to Cerbère via Perpignan. A small number of the latter continue beyond Cerbère to Portbou in Spain.
