Ski train from London to the French Alps

If you fancy sloping off to the French Alps for a winter getaway, travelling by train is the smart alternative to flying. Reaching French ski resorts by rail from London can be less stressful, more fun and less expensive than taking the plane.

Thanks to seasonal services, seamless transfers and no excess baggage fees, taking the train to the French Alps can now work out faster, and even cheaper, than flying. Opt for a direct Eurostar ski train from London to the Rhône-Alpes, choose from a selection of French ski trains or build your own itinerary to a location you know and love in Italy, Austria, Germany or Switzerland. NOTE: Sadly Eurostar's seasonal Ski Train is not operating during the 2020/21 season due the repercussions of COVID-19.

Another option for UK skiers is to take the regular, direct London-Lyon train which takes just 4 hrs 41 mins and then connects to many ski gateway towns. During winter this service only operates on Saturdays but increases to three times a week in all other seasons. From Lyon, connect to Annecy for Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz resorts; Grenoble for Alpe d’Huez; Sallanches for Megève; St Gervais les Bains for St Gervais and Les Contamines; and Modane for Valfréjus.
