Great Western Railway
Travelling by train from London to Oxford is extremely easy. The obvious departure point from London is Paddington station from where Great Western Railway (GWR) offers fast trains to Oxford. But there is now an alternative service from London Marylebone (operated by Chiltern Railways). This new link was launched in late 2016; it is just as fast as the traditional GWR route from Paddington.
Whichever route you choose, you’ll find some excellent scenery on the short ride to Oxford. The GWR line from Paddington affords great views of the Thames Valley around Goring, while the alternative route from Marylebone cuts through the gently undulating Chiltern Hills.
London to Oxford

Most Oxford-bound passengers from London depart from Paddington station. The Great Western Railway train heads west from London. You’ll catch a glimpse of Windsor Castle to the left of the train shortly before speeding over the River Thames at Maidenhead. There are glorious views as the railway follows the Thames upstream, cutting through the Berkshire Hills to reach Oxford. The fast trains from London Paddington to Oxford normally stop at Slough and Reading along the way.
