AVE/Alvia/Avant/Intercity
Travelling by train from Madrid to Seville is very simple. Trains speed frequently between the two cities. Most services on the route are high-speed AVE trains, but you'll also encounter Alvia, Avant and Intercity trains on this connection.
This is part of Spain’s very first high-speed rail route, opened in 1992 when Seville hosted the EXPO fair. Heading south from Madrid, you’ll see Toledo away to the right. The route then cuts through the Toledo Hills and, a little later, sweeps through the rugged Sierra Morena to reach Córdoba. From there it's a pleasant run down the Guadalquivir Valley to Seville.
