It is an easy journey by train from Berlin to Prague – two European capitals which are as different as chalk and cheese. Comfortable EuroCity trains link the two cities. The trains that serve this route are operated by either the Czech or Hungarian Railways.
The journey from Berlin to Prague splits neatly into two sections with Dresden the midway point. The run from Berlin to Dresden is through largely forested country which has its own pacific beauty. At Dresden the route joins the Elbe Valley which is then followed upstream across the German-Czech border to Prague. This second stretch of the journey is superb, particularly the first hour south from Dresden. Sit on the left-hand side of the train for the best views.

EuroCity trains leave from the lower level of Berlin Hauptbahnhof every two hours for the journey to Prague. These trains also stop at Südkreuz station in Berlin before heading south out of the city. On reaching Prague, the train serves two stations. The first stop is at Holesovice in the northern suburbs of the city. We recommend staying on to Praha hlavní nádrazí, which is much more convenient for the city centre.
