A thousand years of history

A thousand years of history

Few regions have the complex history of Nuremberg, Germany. A popular travel destination for history buffs, it has something to offer even the most jaded traveler. There’s the Germanisches National Museum, Germany’s most important museum of German culture featuring painters and sculptors, an archaeological collection, arms and armor, musical and scientific instruments and toys. The collection is remarkable, as you’d expect in the city that was once the undeclared capital of the Holy Roman Empire.

About Germany

Of course, Germany is full of epicurean delights as well. Did someone say Bratwurst? And don’t forget Volksfest, an Oktoberfest-style event that happens twice a year and attracts over a million visitors. Also famous is the Christkindlesmarkt organized every year from the Friday before the first Advent Sunday through December 23rd. Held in the bustling square of Hauptmarkt, it’s a great place to find Lebkuchen, a type of ginger bread and seasonal specialty.

A traveler going to enjoy the many things to do in Nuremberg will find it quite easy to get to. Munich to Nuremberg is just over an hour by high speed train (Inter-City-Express). The same train line can take you from Nuremberg to Frankfurt in just 2 hours. To make sure you really get the most out of your time there, why not get the Nuremberg Card + Fürth? It will give you two days to enjoy free travel on all public transportation in Nuremberg and Fürth, plus free admission to over 45 museums in both cities. Wunderbar!
