Isle of Wight by train

If you fancy travelling by train to the Isle of Wight, read more about just how easy it is. This is one mellow ticket to Ryde.

Getting to the Isle of Wight by train is easy and the best way to avoid expensive car ferries, especially if you have one of many UK railcards on offer

If you want to travel to the Isle of Wight on a ticket that includes the ferry to the island town of Ryde, then book all the way to Ryde with us, such as on this London to Ryde route which takes approximately two hours. You can also do a sail rail combo from Lymington - Yarmouth. The other option is take the train to Portsmouth Harbour, Southampton or Lymington and then choose from hovercrafts, catamarans and even rib boats which you can book separately.

As well as the Isle of Wight's famous festival scene, there are plenty of reasons to go to the Isle of Wight all year round, including superb walking and cycling trails as well as no shortage of watersports. The Isle of Wight also has its own railway line, just 14km long between Ryde and Shanklin. Enjoy walks such as the 7km Towering Tennyson Trail around the most western tip of the Island taking in natural highlights of Alum Bay, The Needles and Tennyson Down. A big shout-out to family and eco-friendly tree climbing company Goodleaf, which gives 5% discount on their adventures if you leave the car behind.
