Skip the Line: Venice in One Day Including Boat Tour

If it’s your first time in Venice, see all the highlights of this magical city on a combination walking tour of Venice’s narrow streets and a boat tour on the Grand Canal. From Piazza San Marco (St Mark’s Square) to the Rialto Bridge, your informative guide will offer historical perspectives on this fascinating medieval city. Plus, you'll skip the long lines at St Mark's Basilica – there’s no need to waste time waiting in lines when you're on vacation!

What You Can Expect

Visit St. Mark's Basilica
Visit St. Mark's Basilica

Your comprehensive introduction to Venice begins near St Mark’s Square with a two-hour guided walking tour highlighting the city’s important monuments. Follow your guide to the famous piazza and learn the history behind its landmarks, including the Byzantine architectural heritage of St Mark's Basilica and the adjoining prisons of Doge's Palace.

Visit the famed basilica of St Mark's with skip-the-line admission, without having to stand in long queues! At the Scuola di San Marco, learn about the medieval trade schools of Venice that provided the foundations for the great mercantile empire of Venice.

Leaving the crowds behind, enter a labyrinth of narrow passageways, alleys and meandering canals punctuated by delicate bridges as you further explore the enchanting city with your guide. Explore the lively Campo Santa Maria Formosa with its outstanding Gothic palaces, and view Marco Polo's house as well as an old merchant's warehouse and the city’s most beautiful wellhead.

Complete your walking tour near the Rialto Bridge, and enjoy free time before your boat tour of the Grand Canal begins. (Depending on the season, your boat tour will start between 4:30pm and 5:30pm. Your guide will provide details of the exact meeting location and time after the walking tour.)

Next, enjoy a relaxing one-hour cruise along the Grand Canal of Venice via water taxi. Along the way you will learn the history of the stunning palaces and churches that line the famous canal, as well as hear anecdotes about the famous people who have resided on Venice's most important ‘street.’ During the second half of your boat tour, discover the minor canals of Venice and soak up the romantic atmosphere.

Please note: St Mark's Basilica is free of charge to enter and we guarantee that you'll skip any long lines as part of this tour. Venice is subject to flash floods and occasionally the Basilica is closed to the public (without notice) because of high water or festivities.

Fantastic tours and guides with so much information and personality. Value for money - outstanding. Loved the boat tour in the afternoon - was like a private tour. Will be back to soak up some more.

Amazing tour! I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to explore Venice with an experienced tour guide. It was in English and provided so much history and information that I did not want it to end. The walking tour covered so much of Venice by foot, small street to St Marks to Marco Polo's house and so much more. The boat tour was perfect because so much of Venice can only be seen by boat. Small canals and hidden gems of the city were accessible buy this boat tour. Can not say enough great things about this tour.

Absolutely loved this, it was just enough for us to get an overall feel for the city. Our guide was wonderful, gave us a really good behind the scenes idea of normal life as a family man in this gorgeous city. The boat ride was fabulous too.

The walking tour guide was terrific. We had time for lunch before the boat tour. The guide for this portion was also terrific. I recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see sites other than St. Marks square.

Very informative guides, the walking tour in the morning was too much walking for my husband and he had to drop out, but I really enjoyed it, we then had lunch and met up again in the same place for the boat trip which was again informative and a real eye opener of the life of Venetians history. I wouldn't recommend the walking tour in the summer though, we went in November and it was quite crowded then, but the summer months would be my idea of hell, and following the guide very difficult.

For the walking tour portion we had a fantastic guide, Marco, he was easy to understand and answered all questions with out any hesitation, he also had a fabulous personality. Our guide for the boat trip was good, I didn't understand his name however, we explained everything clearly and seemed to enjoy his job. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Outstanding, best tour we took on our trip. Very knowledgable guide, friendly and made tour very interesting and fun. We saw parts of Venice that you would never find and was a great way to get a sense of the place and we went back to lots of the places later too. The grand canal cruise was definitely a highlight and must do. Small groups on boats made it perfect.

Very knowledgeable and very comic tour guide is excellent, and the headsets provided in a small group tour was a plus. The water taxi tour was awesome and exhilarating, showcasing the parts of Venice that a tourist seldom sees. This is highly recommended.

Great introduction to Venice by foot and by water taxi on our first trip there. The two sections of the tour are handled by two different but very knowledgeable guides. Break in between two tours allowed time for leisurely lunch and wandering about the city. Guides provided interesting background both were passionate about Venice.
