Rail Europe Appoints New President Ceo Frederic Langlois
White Plains, NY, July 20, 2007 -- Rail Europe's President and CEO, Fabrice Morel, announced the appointment today of his successor, Frederic Langlois. Langlois has served as Rail Europe's Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Distribution, overseeing sales, marketing, product development, group rail sales, e-commerce, and customer relations for the past year.
A 15-year veteran of the travel industry, Langlois brings diverse experience to his new position as Rail Europe's President. Before coming to Rail Europe in 2006, he worked for 5 years in the tour operator business (Maeva and Nouvelles Frontieres), in charge of European, Middle Eastern and African markets. For ten years before that he worked in airline sales and marketing (for UTA and AOM), based in cities throughout Africa and Europe.
"I have been very impressed with the dedication and expertise of the Rail Europe team since I first came here," said Langlois. "I'm pleased to say that we are ‘on track' to deliver profitable results this year, and I look forward to leading the company to even greater success."
Morel moves on effective immediately to the newly announced Railteam alliance of seven European high-speed rail operators. Morel will serve as Railteam Distribution Director at the French National Railroads (SNCF)'s passenger division, based in Paris. Styled like an airline alliance, the goal of Railteam is to make international high-speed rail travel easier, faster and more seamless, providing a true alternative to intra-European air travel. Morel's new duties: deliver the new interconnecting reservations platform used by Railteam's member rail operators and coordinate all necessary changes within SNCF's distribution systems and practices.
"There are exciting plans on the European rail horizon," said Morel. "I'm glad that in my new capacity I will be playing a key role in making them happen, and therefore I'll still be able to continue delivering benefits to North American travelers and to Rail Europe. I wish Frederic and the Rail Europe management team much success and know that the company will continue to thrive under this new leadership. "
