Special Summer 3-Day German Railpass For Two Announced by Rail Europe

White Plains, New York, May 25, 2005 - A special 3-day German Rail Twin Pass, available this summer exclusively from Rail Europe, makes touring Germany by rail a great value for two people traveling together. Only available for purchase in North America between May 16 and July 4 for travel completed by August 31, the 3-day German Rail Twin Pass is available for $222 US/$292 CAD (2nd class) or $333 US/$438 CAD (1st) total for both people.

Rail Europe’s new Austria and Czech Republic Pass provides four days of unlimited 1st class rail travel within a 2 month period, starting at $200 US/$ 262 CAD per person when two or more people travel together, $230 US/$ 302 CAD for a solo traveler. A discounted version for young people under 26 traveling in 2nd class sells for $167 US/ $219 CAD. Additional days may be purchased.

Saves 30+% over point-to-point tickets

The 3-day German Rail Twin Pass, called the 1 2 3 German Rail Special (1 pass, 2 people, 3 days) saves travelers more than 30% over the cost of both people buying individual point-to-point tickets. Compare the per person cost of the Twin Pass (half of the above price) with the price of individual point-to-point tickets on the following typical touring itinerary: Frankfurt-Munich ($88 US/$116 CAD 2nd class, $136 US/$179 CAD 1st class), Munich-Berlin ($110 US/$145 CAD 2nd, $172 US/$ 226 CAD 1st), Berlin-Frankfurt ($89 US/$117 CAD 2nd, $138 US/$181 CAD 1st.)

The three days of unlimited rail travel may be used within a one-month period. This pass is non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

“The special 3-day German Rail Twin Pass was designed to make it easy and economical to see more of Germany on the kinds of vacations North Americans tend to take - shorter and more focused on fewer destinations,” explains Fabrice Morel, President and CEO of the Rail Europe Group. “Germany has one of the most advanced rail systems on the Continent, with excellent trains - including many high-speed lines -- frequent service and a reputation for punctuality.”
