Save up to 30% on first class rail travel this summer between France and Italy on fast Artesia day trains
White Plains, NY, July 6, 2004 - Rail Europe has announced a special summer promotion, saving up to 30% off the normal fare in first class, on fast Artesia trains traveling between France and Italy Monday through Thursday during the day. Artesia trains link Paris, Lyon, Chambery, Modane and St. Jean de Maurienne in France to Turin, Milan and intermediary cities in northern Italy.
Valid on Artesia day trains operating Monday-Thursday, this Artesia Summer Special may be booked from now through September 5, 2004, for travel from now until September 6, and should be purchased before leaving North America. The promotional fare varies depending on the departure and arrival city. From Paris to any of the Italian cities, the fare is $113 US/$155 CAD in 1st class, compared to the normal 1st class fare of $157 US/$ 216 CAD -- in fact the promotional fare in 1st class is the same as the normal fare in 2nd class between Paris and any of the Italian cities. From Lyon, the 1st class promotional fare to Turin and nearby cities is $57 US/$79 CAD, compared to the normal 1st class fare of $82 US/$ 113 CAD, and from Lyon to Milan and nearby cities is $69 US/$ 95 CAD, compared to normal 1st class fare of $100 US/$137 CAD.
Using French TGV and Italian Pendolino (tilting) train equipment, Artesia operates at top speeds of 160-168 mph and makes the journey between Paris and Milan in 6 hours 40 minutes, between Paris and Turin in 5 hours 30 minutes. There are four daytime Artesia roundtrips between France and Italy daily. This special fare does not apply to Artesia night trains. Reservations are required on all Artesia trains.
