Overview

Railjet - Austria and beyond

The ÖBB Railjet is a high-speed train linking the major cities of Austria, Germany and Hungary, a trek through some of the most stunning terrain in Europe. You can go from Vienna through Salzburg to Innsbruck, Bregenz and Zurich, and from Munich through Vienna to Budapest, Stuttgart, Mannheim and Frankfurt.

Unparalleled in its combination of speed, comfort, design and modernity, the Railjet represents a completely new service concept, even for the high standards of train excellence throughout Europe. More than generous in amenities and compartment space, and combined with a state-of-the-art interior, you’re all but guaranteed a trip filled with rest, relaxation and delight. You’ll find a beyond-the-basics Bistro car on every train, as well as some trains specially equipped with playing areas and video corners for children. And there are special facilities to make sure the disabled feel just as welcome. Not a single detail has been overlooked.

Frankly, there’s never been a train line with more thought put into it. So now it seems the only thing left to put in it is you.

"The train ride was very good except for the luggage aspect. If you have multiple bags (which people from the US on a long trip may have) then it's difficult to find space to store your luggage and no one is assigned to help out. There were many people who didn't have seats. Thankfully, my wife and I booked assigned seats. "

"The tickets came on time although you may wish to consider online tickets :) The train was fairly easy to find. It was a busy service but fairly comfortable. The wifi was terrible and it stopped at one station for so long, I think I could have walked the entire length of the train a few times ! "
