Do I need to purchase the Rail Protection Plan™ from Rail Europe?
We offer an exclusive Rail Protection Plan™ provides credit to you in the case of exchanges, railroad strikes, and in the case of loss or theft in Europe. The nominal fee is a small price to pay to protect your investment. The complete policy can be reviewed under "About Us".
Note: The Rail Protection Plan™ fee is non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

How do I file a request to receive reimbursement through the Rail Protection Plan™ if I need to do an exchange?
- No matter what the reason, you can make one (1) exchange for a new rail pass/ticket with no questions asked.
- Rail passes and paper tickets must be exchanged prior to the original departure date from North America (that you provided at the time of booking).
- E-tickets can be exchanged up to two (2) business days prior to the originally scheduled train departure date.
- Travelers are responsible to pay the difference in cost of the value of the exchanged product and the new order. In the case that the new ticket/pass is of a lower cost than the original product, the difference will not be refunded.
- In order to initiate your exchange, you must please fill out the RPP Traveler’s Request Form.

How do I file a request to receive reimbursement through the Rail Protection Plan™ if there has been loss or theft?
- Pass/ticket holders must file a police report within twenty-four (24) hours of the incident.
- Pass/ticket holders may purchase a replacement rail pass or rail tickets in order to continue with his/her travel plans.
- Upon return to North America, pass/tickets holder must submit the traveler request form to Rail Europe within thirty (30) days including a police report, replacement passes or tickets purchased abroad, Rail Protection voucher, airline tickets from North America to Europe and return. A brief explanation of the situation is also necessary to better evaluate the traveler request form.

How do I file a request to receive reimbursement through the Rail Protection Plan™ if there has been a strike?
- Traveler request forms due to strikes must include the ticket which must have been stamped at the European rail station by a railway official indicating the ticket was not used due to a rail strike. Passes are not covered in cases of rail strikes.

Does the Rail Protection Plan cover refunds?
No, our Rail Protection Plan does not cover refunds, however you can make one (1) exchange for a new rail pass/ticket with no questions asked. If you have the Rail Protection Plan, your exchange must be completed through our Contact Center. Please call directly at: (877) 777-3373.
