Belfast
Historic charm and Northern Irish spirit unite in this emerging destination
Over the last decade, Northern Ireland's capital has become a hot spot for travel and right now is an extraordinary time to visit this city. The city center has been restored and visitors can wander its pedestrian laneways to shop in the upscale arcades lined with jewelry stores and colorful boutiques. Stop in at historic pubs or dine in Michelin-starred restaurants.
The city is divided into four walkable quarters. The City Center spreads out from around the impressive domed City Hall building and bustling Donegall Square. The leafy area around Queen's University is the University Quarter, home to the Botanic Gardens, art galleries, museums, and a buzzing nightlife scene. The city's most imposing churches and Victorian warehouses anchor the Cathedral Quarter. The city's best address for restaurants and pubs is the Golden Mile, an area around Great Victoria Street beyond Bradbury Place.
