Skip the Line: Venice in One Day Including Boat Tour

If it’s your first time in Venice, see all the highlights of this magical city on a combination walking tour of Venice’s narrow streets and a boat tour on the Grand Canal. From Piazza San Marco (St Mark’s Square) to the Rialto Bridge, your informative guide will offer historical perspectives on this fascinating medieval city. Plus, you'll skip the long lines at St Mark's Basilica – there’s no need to waste time waiting in lines when you're on vacation!

What You Can Expect

Visit St. Mark's Basilica
Visit St. Mark's Basilica

Your comprehensive introduction to Venice begins near St Mark’s Square with a two-hour guided walking tour highlighting the city’s important monuments. Follow your guide to the famous piazza and learn the history behind its landmarks, including the Byzantine architectural heritage of St Mark's Basilica and the adjoining prisons of Doge's Palace.

Visit the famed basilica of St Mark's with skip-the-line admission, without having to stand in long queues! At the Scuola di San Marco, learn about the medieval trade schools of Venice that provided the foundations for the great mercantile empire of Venice.

Leaving the crowds behind, enter a labyrinth of narrow passageways, alleys and meandering canals punctuated by delicate bridges as you further explore the enchanting city with your guide. Explore the lively Campo Santa Maria Formosa with its outstanding Gothic palaces, and view Marco Polo's house as well as an old merchant's warehouse and the city’s most beautiful wellhead.

Complete your walking tour near the Rialto Bridge, and enjoy free time before your boat tour of the Grand Canal begins. (Depending on the season, your boat tour will start between 4:30pm and 5:30pm. Your guide will provide details of the exact meeting location and time after the walking tour.)

Next, enjoy a relaxing one-hour cruise along the Grand Canal of Venice via water taxi. Along the way you will learn the history of the stunning palaces and churches that line the famous canal, as well as hear anecdotes about the famous people who have resided on Venice's most important ‘street.’ During the second half of your boat tour, discover the minor canals of Venice and soak up the romantic atmosphere.

Please note: St Mark's Basilica is free of charge to enter and we guarantee that you'll skip any long lines as part of this tour. Venice is subject to flash floods and occasionally the Basilica is closed to the public (without notice) because of high water or festivities.

Great guides that made the tour even better

We had a wonderful time during our tour. Miko was friendly, polite, and informative. We loved both the walking tour portion as well as the boat tour. We felt we had a good lay of the land afterward to go off and explore more.

Walking tour including the boat was well worth doing saw a lot that we wouldn't have seen, tucked away places that we were not able to retrace, be prepared for a few bridge crossings if you have small children in strollers. The boat part of the tour was also good, got to see where George Clooney got married, amongst other notable points of interest. Great tour guide on both occasions.

Our family enjoyed the walking tour with time to explore and then the boat tour. Well coordinated and full of information about the city.

Venice is a wonderful city, this trip is great for learning about the history of the city whilst also familiarising oneself with the labyrinth of passages and bridges, the boat trip is also great for seeing the cities architecture because a lot of it can only be seen when on the water. I thoroughly recommend this trip.

Wonderful tour and excellent guide! Definitely a must do.

July 2015

Great guide, great tour, the perfect sample of Venice. Make sure you board the boat first and stay up with the driver or pop out the back for the full view.

Was great, rounded off our Venice experience

July 2015

Both guides were very friendly and informative one for walking, one for boat. It was very hot that day, but the walking guide kept us interested, and made sure we were in the shade when possible. We had a storm for the boat ride there was actually a tornado that we saw, but it went away quickly!. The boat driver was wonderful, as he had to get us through some very rough water for a while! It was very exciting, though! Everything was handled well and efficiently.

We were reluctant to do this tour as we were not sure we were walking tour people, and it was also very hot. However, we were so thrilled with this tour and how fascinating it was. We learned so much about Venice, and our tour guide, LouiseElla, was a native Venetian and was so interesting and really brought this beautiful city to life! Highly recommend!

We had an exceptional guide for the walking part of the tour -- very informative, but with a sense of humor as well. We covered a lot of ground on the tour, so you need good walking shoes. Having a large delay between the walking tour and the boat tour was not ideal... a 30-45 minute break to get lunch would have been plenty. As it was, we didn't really have time to do anything significant nor go back to our hotel which was on the opposite side of Venice. Still, overall we would recommend this tour.

July 2015

This was a highly informative and fun exploration through the streets of Venice! Glad we were with a guide for the streets are like a maze! Fun highlight was the Libraria. We actually found our way back there later in the day to casually browse and take some treasures home with us! The boat ride in the afternoon was fantastic! We were taken in small groups of 6-8 people aboard the cool water taxis! Saw a lot of Venice that we otherwise would not have seen! Take this tour!!! You will not be sorry!

A very interesting tour where the guide took us to a few interesting places in Venice and told us cool stories about them. Then the boat tour is absolutely the best thing I did in Venice.

The only way to see Venice walking and cruising.
Gudies were excellent.

FANTASTIC! Would rate it with 10 stars. The walking tour takes you to little streets you would never find on your own and to plazas you didn't know existed. You go from crowded streets of tourists to empty streets with not one there. Then you take a 2-3 hour break to explore on your own. You meet again to take your Boat tour. You get on a small boat with 8 other people that is correct not a large boat with 50 people and float down canals that others don't see. You have no need to ride a gondola because this boat tour does it all for you. BEST TOUR EVER! Do not miss this tour.
