Following a morning pickup from your hotel in Brussels, meet your guide and hop aboard your air-conditioned coach for the 1-hour journey to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Ghent, widely considered among the most beautiful cities in Belgium.

Begin your tour with a visit to St Bavo’s Cathedral, home of world-famous late-medieval treasures such as the painting, ‘Mystic Lamb’. Admire the cathedral’s ornate interior and learn of its impressive history from your guide.

Leave St Bavo’s behind and head onward for a walking tour of Ghent. Take in top city attractions such as the belfry, St Nicholas’ Church, the Castle of the Counts of Flanders (Gravensteen) and the historic buildings and medieval port at the Graslei.

Continue on to the neighboring city of Bruges — also UNESCO-listed — with your guide and wander the cobblestone streets of the romantic Minnewater (Lake of Love). Here, perhaps take time to enjoy a little lunch at a nearby café or restaurant (own expense).

Afterward, begin your walking tour and discover why so many people from across the world fall in love with this beautiful Belgian city. Take in Saint John’s Hospital, Our Lady’s Church with the statue by Michelangelo (optional), City Hall, the Market Square and the medieval Chapel of the Holy Blood.

At the conclusion of your walking tour, perhaps enjoy a boat tour along Bruges’ picturesque canals (own expense) and soak up the city views from a different angle.

When it’s time to depart from Bruges, hop back aboard your coach for the 1.5-hour journey back to Brussels where your tour will come to an end.

Traveling with 3 small kids, the tour guide and bus driver did everything they could to make our trip enjoyable. We loved hearing about the history of the areas we visited, the lunch recommendation in Bruges was tasty, and the boat tour was the highlight of our trip!

This is a very comprehensive tour of both towns, and both are lovely. It is also a very long day. Our guide was very well-informed and helpful. There is much to absorb and a great deal of walking at a fairly rapid pace over uneven cobblestone streets.
We found it difficult to keep up. Nevertheless, if you are not jet-lagged and interested in highlights of these two beautiful places, this is the perfect introductory tour. We liked Brugge so much that we will return for a few nights at a later date. My recommendation: take the 30 minute canal ride in Brugge. It is an additional 8E, but provides a beautiful and insightful perspective on this place.

Both the guide and the driver were excellent. The walking tours and free time were just right. One suggestion: give us a small map of each town before we go off on our own. Love both cities.

Brilliant trip! Everything ran to time, the guide was excellent, Ghent and Bruges were beautiful!! They even picked us up from our hotel in Brussels, I couldn't have asked for more. This is my second time booking a tour through Viator my first trip was in Ireland and I am very happy with both tours. Thank you.
P.S. Do take the boat trip in Bruges, its an extra 8 euro but its well worth it :

A long day but a very enjoyable and informative trip.

August 2015

Beautiful day trip to both Ghent and Bruges. A bit disorganized in the beginning but everything seemed to have been sorted out later. We had a bit of a rough start with you guide who was upset about the disorganization but then her manners improved and the day went by. Regardless, this was still a lovely trip with plenty of time to wonder around on your own.

When booking this trip,I booked with Viator thinking I was on an English speaking tour.Unfortunately Jan our multi lingual guide had to display all his skills with a no. of nationalities.
Jan was an excellent guide and the trip was very rewarding.
We were kept waiting for more than 30mins due to a couple being late caught in traffic etc etc. This is unfortunate but at the same time re-assuring 'caus it could have been me.
I would certainly recommend this day trip but not for those who have limited walking ability

Both Ghent and Bruges are amazing if they have never changed in 400 years!

A very worthwhile tour, Bruges was stunning! We liked that you could opt in and out from the tour guides input and do your own thing. We would recommend booking the boat trip in Bruges with the guide as you fast track the lines.
