Rail Europe Trending Towards Best Year Ever in Rail Sales in Europe
White Plains, N.Y., June 23, 2011 - With the school year ending for most North American students this week, the start of the summer travel season has begun and Rail Europe Inc., the North American leader in European rail travel, is predicting robust travel to Europe.
According to Rail Europe president and chief executive officer, Frederic Langlois, North American sales are up 20 percent over last year and the company is on target to exceed sales goals for the entire summer by the end of this month. “We’re off to a tremendous start with Britain more than doubling the number of rail passengers on the extensive network that connects England, Wales and Scotland, followed closely by Spain which has seen a passenger growth of approximately 90 percent over last year,” said Langlois..
Langlois believes that while many travel sellers have been rightly concerned about the economic pressures facing consumers this summer, established European destinations may be considered less of an extravagance and part of an overall education, making them an investment.
Rail Europe now offers an increased range of e-tickets on trains such as Eurostar and on most trains in France, Britain and Spain. In addition, just one month after launching the mobile site and iPhone App, 10 percent of sales have come from travelers already in Europe using their smartphones to change or add to their travel itinerary. Rail Europe continues to find ways to cater to the growing trend of flexibility while traveling.
